How to choose the right Baby Stroller

No baby stroller is going to be great for everything you do in the coming years. So take some time to think about what you most need ... many parents find that a good quality light wagon to errands and travel, combined with a jogging stroller or full-size stroller is a great fight for every need!

FROM WOMB TO WHEELS - Age plays a role

Birth to six months is the period where the child has not adequate head and neck control for a standalone stroller. You have to find a stroller in there you can connect the child seat, one that has a bassinet, or a character for newborns.

From 6 + months and older, open the stroller world really up to you! Unless the child has special needs, she or he can ride on almost any stroller out there.

Careful when jogging! Pediatricians warn against too much shaking before your baby has very good head / neck control, usually 8 to 10 months.

WALK MUCH?

If you use a pram daily for more than just going from your car into a shop, you'll love to have someone who is comfortable and smooth to push. The neighborhood tours and trails are so much fun with a big rolling stroller.

Here, try out hands-on slider is tough to replace with online surfing. If you buy online, make sure that you read reviews about how a stroller pushes and handles before you make a purchase (on PeppyParents.com, we have already done all this work for you!).

In general, larger wheels mean easier to slide. Real rubber tires means better handling. Suspension (shock absorbers) means smoother ride. On-board motors means less work (ok, we made it on the engine).

If, if you do not plan to use a stroller so much more than a car-in-shop-back-to-car device, it is not as critical to worry about the trip.

Size Matters! And it makes WEIGHT.

The lightest good quality wagon available is around 8 pounds - roughly the weight of one gallon of water. And full-size, full-featured carts can tip the scales past 30 pounds.

Think how often you should lift the carriage up the stairs, into the car, or in a closet. If it is something you do everyday, try to balance the weight of features and performance.

In general, lighter weight vehicles have less features and a less refined ride. They are usually smaller and may have a less comfortable seat for your child. The lightweight also lack any practical adjustments. The only reason to get an ultra-light (ie under 10 pounds) stroller is for frequent car errands or travel.

If you find a full-featured, full-size standard cart which is less than 20 pounds, making it very good. Most are under 25 pounds.

Expect the very lightest all-terrain stroller to tip the scales at 20 pounds, and the very easiest joggers. Most are under 25 pounds.

As far as size, look at the board size when you make your decision. Although the weight is the same, it is much easier to lift, carry and keep a stroller that is less bulky when folded.

AND NOW, the feature PRESENTATION

All features are where it really becomes more confusing, since no stroller has it all. Here are some of the most popular:

  • Reverse handle or seat -- that you can face your baby as you push. Very cute.

  • Cupholder - if not included, do not despair! You can buy universal-fit cupholder.
  • Storage Basket - you'll need it for snacks, diapers, wipe, bottles. The bigger, the better.
  • Sun canopy - Unless you live deep in a shady forest, sun protection is very important. Bigger sun shade provide better protection.
  • Adjustable handle - very important for parents who are under 5'3 "or taller than 6". A nice feature for all other parents.
  • Landscape seat - some cars are easier to sleep than others.
  • 5-point harness - Safety is important, and this is the safest type of harness.
  • Adjustable legrest - one way to make it more comfortable for the growing child.
  • Bumper bar - (also called handles, toy bar) handy to ensure toys in front of your child while you stroll. Young children love it too.
  • Snack tray - popular on the American brands, but not in many others.
